My mom has always been a giver. She’d sacrifice her own needs to help someone else. She drew the short straw when it came to overall health, and suffered greatly throughout her 78 years. Of course she was an organ donor but we never believed she actually be an eligible donor. However, when she passed Thursday morning, one of the first questions I was asked if she was an organ donor and if so, would we donate her tissue. Having worked at a local tissue bank, I jumped at this amazing opportunity to use my mom’s tissue to live on and enhance others’ lives. My mom was a giver, even after death!
