My awesome son, Zac, was a registered donor & saved 5 lives after sustaining major head trauma in a car accident in 2008. He was 22. One recipient was a single mom in NYC who had been on dialysis for 9 years!! She sent us a card and her two teenage children wrote us a note, as well. Although we did not hear from the other recipients, our OPO has checked in with their coordinators and found that all are still doing well!
Zac's selfless act of love helped me so much in the healing process! Knowing he lives on has brought me so much comfort. Although my heart may never heal, I take great comfort knowing Zac's heart is able to continue beating and giving someone else valuable time with their loved ones. Love you and miss you, Zac!
