LifeShare is pleased to announce the appointment
of Jerome Menendez as Executive Director. Jerome has over 22 years of progressive healthcare experience in organ
procurement and transplantation and has served in various positions including Transplant Coordinator, Transplant
Manager, Director and Assistant Vice President.
In his new role, Jerome serves as the Chief Executive Officer of LifeShare, assuming authority for administrative and leadership functions and supervision of the established organizational plan. He will also be responsible for ongoing communication with the Board of Directors.
Most recently, Jerome served as the Director of the Liver Transplant Program at Carolinas Medical Center. He actually began his donation career with LifeShare in 1994, later gaining experience as an Organ Recovery Coordinator with two other organ procurement organizations.
Jerome holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Chatham University and is also a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. He is engaged with several organ donation and transplantation groups, most notably as a registered lecturer for NATCO, the Organization for Transplant Professionals.
His appointment is the second recent leadership change at LifeShare. Sarah Seiler was named Chief Operating Officer late last summer. Jerome replaces Lisa McCanna who was promoted to a new position within Carolinas HealthCare System, LifeShare’s parent organization.
LifeShare is the federally-designated organ procurement organization that has proudly coordinated organ transplants throughout southwestern North Carolina for over 40 years. In addition to facilitating organ transplants, LifeShare also operates an eye bank and recovers tissue for transplantation.
