June 28, 2016 (Orlando) –TransLife Organ and Tissue Donation Services, the not-for-profit, federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) serving 10 counties in east-Central Florida, including Orlando, would like to thank the OPO community for their kindness following the tragic events that took place in Orlando on Sunday, June 12th.
Our TransLife team received an outpouring of support from the members of our donation and transplantation community – from words of encouragement to offers to help and provide any available resources. Our team was touched by the many emails, text messages and phone calls offering strength and reassurance. We will be forever grateful for the support from our tight-knit donation community.
For our part, TransLife offered what we could for the victims and their families, including mobilizing staff to help with family notifications and providing grief resources to those suffering unimaginable loss. We were a small part of a much larger community that day and the sense of community and strength that rose from that event will forever define the people of Orlando and the enduring strength of our country.
TransLife is east-Central Florida’s federally-designated organ and tissue donation program agency, covering 10 counties and partnering with more than 40 hospitals. We are dedicated to saving and improving lives through organ and tissue donation and public education, while honoring all donors and their loved ones whose generosity makes the gift of life possible.
